Goodby to Kiwi

We had to say goodbye to Kiwi yesterday.

It is hard to remember now but for a long time the family having a dog was out of the question. Kiwi was the first. Kiwi arrived as a gift to Kelsey who was so passionate about getting a dog.

Kiwi kept us happy through the years. Kiwi was loyal and never a troublemaker. Kiwi was welcoming to her new friends Buttons, Ashes, Otis, Stella, and Darby. She smelled and liked to eat a lot, but how can you fault anyone for that?

She had 16 years of living. Kiwi Amazingly lived through some spectacular events:

  • Kiwi ate a pound of bacon - raw
  • Kiwi , released out of the car accidentally by Scott at a freeway rest-stop, dodged oncoming tractor trailer traffic to return to safely to the car (Oops still sorry about the one)
  • Kiwi attended many parties. One party she was being "let out" only to drop eight feet straight down into a trap construction hole just on the way out of the porch (That one was not me)
  • Kiwi lost her senses in her older days. She was walking along the boardwalk and fell through an opening and down 12 ft - onto solid rock! She just dusted herself off, cleaned up some blood, and kept on trucking.
We will miss you Kiwi
